You may remember my brother-in-law Jim and his fierce fiancé Katie from the incredible story of their engagement. They tied the knot on Monday night in a unique, memorable and groovy style all their own.
Katie and Jim affectionately called their wedding “The Magical Mystery Tour.” To say Katie is a Beatles fan is a major understatement… she has Beatles fever! The girl won a trivia contest on a local news station in Milwaukee before the Paul McCartney concert a few weeks ago for goodness sake.
The day truly embodied the “All You Need Is Love” spirit. Katie and Jim had planned to have their ceremony in the beautiful sunken garden at the Como Park Conservatory. They hadn’t anticipated a scorching temperature of 97 degrees, and made the last minute decision to move the wedding inside to make sure the guests stayed comfortable and healthy. Katie and Jim handled the change of venue and all of the day’s surprises with grace, positivity and pure love for their friends and family.
Mostly, the event was as relaxed, unconventional and fun as the two of them. Who needs bouquets when your bridesmaids can boogie down the aisle with tambourines? Why not dress your officiant in an orange Sergeant Pepper costume? What better to decorate with than yellow submarines, Beatles records and life-sized Beatles standees? All of these details made the wedding playful, imaginative and uniquely theirs.
Jim and Katie are a perfect match. I am so happy they’ve found each other and that we could be there to celebrate!
