Everybody has a different theory as to what makes The Rookery by Travail magical.
For Mike, it’s that he can wear shorts, watch the World Cup and eat incredible food all at the same place. For our bartender, the magic formula is to entertain, feed and booze people up all at the same time. As for me? I’d say the secret has something to do with artfully combining opposites in everything they do.
It’s $35 for an 11-course tasting menu. It’s sophisticated modern gastronomy served by dudes singing along to Madonna in Robbinsdale. It’s foie gras and Honey Nut Cheerios on the same plate.
Whatever it is, everything this group of chefs does, from the original Travail to the pop-up Umami to the fabulous Rookery, is magic. You must go there.
