A couple of weeks ago, we had a patio put in at our new house! We had a great experience with Axel Landscape – Jodi and Chris are talented designers, installers and all around great people. I’d highly recommend working with them if you have a landscaping project on your to do list.
We had our first patio party last night in honor of our friends Anne and Brian who were visiting from Chicago. The goal of the weekend was to show Brian what a fun, sophisticated and lovely place Minneapolis is – he had never visited the Twin Cities before. Anne used to live here and we’re hoping she and Brian will move back one day. We had a great time eating, cooking and relaxing with them this weekend. Brian is a talented cook and blogger himself – he is the mastermind behind Broke Home Chef.
We spent Saturday afternoon in the kitchen in full-blown party prep mode. We knocked out the smoked salmon, potato salad, orzo salad and key lime pie over the course of the afternoon. I’m a huge fan of Mike’s smoked salmon – it cures overnight and finishes in our Smokey Mountain in no more than a couple hours. If you like Key Lime Pie, you must try the recipe below. Just a handful of ingredients and 5 minutes in the oven and you have a really creamy, tart and sweet key lime pie.
Chips & Mango Salsa
Jamie’s Vegetable Pizza
Grilled Chicken and Brats
Anne and Brian’s Spinach and Orzo Salad
Katie’s Lemon Bars
The Other Katie’s Chocolate Chip Cookies
Our friends and Mike’s parents arrived. We ate, we drank, we played Cards Against Humanity. It was a successful inauguration of our new patio, and a very satisfying night all around.
Until We Eat Again,
